Rather than presenting the picturesque buildings or cultivated countryside of the village, Schultzberg turns his attention toward the landscape itself. There are no figures, buildings or narrative elements. Instead, Schultzberg reduces the landscape to horizontal bands of earth, water, mountain and sky.
